We import the finest quality neem oil with a measured azadirachtin content in excess of 1500 ppm. Neem Oil can be used either full strength or added to shampoo, lotions or creams to enhance the neem action on the skin. Note that pure Neem oil has a distinctive odor, which causes many to prefer our cream or lotion as the best way to apply neem to the skin.
Where the oil comes from: The neem seed kernel is very rich in fatty acids, (Shelton, 1962) often up to 50 percent of the kernel's weight. Neem seed oil is very bitter with a garlic/sulfur smell and contains vitamin E and other essential amino acids. Studies of the various components of the oil have found the percentages of the following fatty acids; oleic acid - 52.8, stearic acid - 21.4, palmitic acid - 12.6, linoleic acid - 2.1 and various lower fatty acids - 2.3. (Bhandari, 1959) The percentages vary from sample to sample depending on place and time of collection of the seeds.
Neem oil is an excellent moisturizing oil that contains compounds with historical and scientific validity as medicinals. Use of the oil for cosmetics and medicines has been limited by its strongly bitter taste and sulfur/garlic smell. Neem oil has usually been a dark, unpleasant smelling and bitter oil. Only when it was made into soaps was it acceptable use by most people. It is no wonder the leaves have been substituted for the oil to get the benefits of neem.
SUGGESTED USAGE
Apply sparingly several times a day to affected areas. You may also add 20 to 25 drops of Neem Oil to 8 ounces of your favorite shampoo, massage oil or lotion. For external use only!
