Frankincense Essential Oil - 1/3 oz , (Frontier)
Also called Olibanum, Frankincense is an aromatic resin that is obtained from the Boswellia sacra tree which is found growing in Yemen and Oman. For more than 5,000 years, Frankincense has been a popular trading commodity on the Arabian Peninsula as well as in North Africa; it was so important that this resin was found in the tomb of King Tut (who died in 1323 BC) and reintroduced to Europe by the Frankish Crusaders. Used in incense, perfumery, aromatherapy, and lavish religious rites.
Frankincense is also edible (it chews like chewing gum) and often used in various traditional medicines for digestion and healthy skin in Asia; however, it should be noted that in order for Frankincense to be edible, it should be pure and translucent without any brown or black impurities. Frankincense has been used for hundreds of years in treating arthritis in Ayurvedic medicine and if you burn this resin, you can actually repel those pesky mosquitos.
Both Frankincense and Frankincense Essential Oil possesses a centering effect on your emotions (such as calming anxiety), are often used for mediation as well as for spiritual growth, and helps to heal any wounds due to its antiseptic and astringent properties (making it helpful in preventing scars.
They both can work to clear your lungs and helps with asthma, bronchitis, laryngitis, coughs, colds, and shortness of breath as well as proven themselves useful for rheumatism and bears a positive impacton the urinary tract. Frankincense and its oil can ease heavy periods, used in a general tonic to the uterus, and has a calming effect during labor.
They also help to rejuvenate on aging skin, makes a wonderful skin tonic, and is effective with skin inflammations, scars, wounds, carbuncles, and sores.
SUGGESTED USAGE
Simply add 4 drops of Lavender Essential Oil, a drop of Petitgrain Essential Oil, and a drop of Frankincense Essential Oil in some carrier oil (such as Sweet Almond Oil, Grape Seed Oil, or Olive Oil) for a Relaxation Massage Oil.
You can even make your own basic Perfume by mixing together 10 drops of Frankincense Essential Oil, 5 drops of Black Pepper Essential Oil, 4 drops of Rose Otto Essential Oil, a drop of Jasmine Absolute Essential Oil, 5 drops of Myrrh Essential Oil, 10 drops of Atlas Cedarwood Essential Oil, and 3 drops of Rosewood Essential Oil.
Caution: Even though Frankincense Essential Oil is non-toxic and can be used by most, you should avoid using this oil early in your pregnancy. Always dilute this oil since there is a possibility that it can irritate your skin. Keep this and other oils out of the reach of children and pets.
