The nose is the direct route to the brain and also the doorway to consciousness. It is the entrance for prana, the life force, which comes into the body through the breath. Healthy uncongested breathing is important to ensure proper flow of prana throughout the head and body. When an excess of bodily fluids accumulates in the sinus, throat, nose or head areas, it is best eliminated through the nose. Administration of herbally infused oil, or nasya, helps faciliate this cleansing process.
Nasya Oil soothes and protects the nasal passages and helps relieve sinus congestion. Daily nasal lubrication helps to release tension in the head and relieve accumulated stress. Balancing for vata, pitta, and kapha, Nasya Oil is also traditionally said to improve quality of voice, strengthen vision and promote mental clarity.

DR. CLAUDIA WELCH
 Claudia Welch is a Doctor of Oriental Medicine and a practitioner of Ayurvedic medicine. She began her study of Ayurveda in 1987 under the supervision of her mentor, Dr. Robert Svoboda. She lived in India for three years, where she studied Ayurveda, Sanskrit and related subjects. Dr. Welch worked at the Ayurvedic Institute in Albuquerque, NM with her teacher, Dr. Vasant Lad, for seven years. She has completed Hart de Fouw's Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced Jyotish workshops. She received her Master's Degree in Oriental Medicine from Southwest Acupuncture College in 1997.
Dr. Welch is a faculty member at The Ayurvedic Institute, Southwest Acupuncture College and at Acupractice Seminars in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Dr. Welch has lectured on Oriental and Ayurvedic medicines internationally. She has a private practice in Albuquerque.

The name also alludes to its reputation in Ayurveda for bestowing the vitality and strength of a horse.
